Empowering the Next Generation

Jordan Thompson hosts youth volleyball players at UA Next Camp in Houston, TX

Back for its third year, Jordan Thompson’s hands-on training camp returned for youth volleyball players in Houston, Texas. One of the many ways Jordan gives back to the game she loves, this camp provides mentoring for elite youth volleyball athletes, empowering them on their journey to compete.

The Cincinatti Alum personally invited 50 girls from across the city to receive 1:1 coaching from the Gold and Silver Medalist herself alongside a star-studded roster of coaches and trainers, including Munciana Volleyball Club owner and co-director, and seven-time national championship winner Mike Lingenfelter, and Felipe Coronel, strength and conditioning coach for the Houston Juniors Volleyball Club. Campers had the opportunity to show off their skills while practicing and playing with some of the sport’s best.

“I want young girls to understand that they are capable of amazing things and have the power of strength and resilience on their side. The lessons they learn as athletes will go beyond their sport and have the power to impact many different areas of life.”

The UA Ace Highlight Volleyball Shoes super-high design gives athletes extra ankle support but doesn't feel heavy or restrictive. It features our UA Flow cushioning, which is light and bouncy, to make you more explosive, give you more power and provide more precision. Ideal for the athlete looking to balance comfort with performance, our Team Shorty Shorts are made from HeatGear® Armour, which is our original performance baselayer—the one you put on first and take off last. We made it extra comfortable by wicking sweat and stretching so you can move. No athlete can go without it. In addition to these perormance products, the campers were gifted the most versatile shoes we've ever made, the SlipSpeed™ Mega, which has a supersized midsole for mega energy. The shoes feel great, cushion better, fit perfectly, handle your toughest runs, AND have a heel that converts easily from slip mode to speed mode.

Thanks to game-changing footwear like the Ace Highlight and SlipSpeed™ Mega, not only did JT Camp athletes leave with a better understanding of themselves as a player but also left with firsthand experience of putting the best Under Armour product to the test.

BEYOND THE GAME

While Jordan Thompson’s Camp’s primary goal is to offer youth athletes the opportunity to learn what it takes to succeed on the court, the camp’s impact extends beyond the game. Athletes were gifted a Little Words Project® bracelet, which is a woman-owned jewelry company founded on kindness to yourself and others. The bracelets can feature phrases or words, and are made to be worn, loved and shared—bringing self-love to each person they touch. Jordan took the time to share what her phrase ‘Lead with Love’ means to her, as well as advice for the athletes and how they can help shape the future for the better – on and off the court.
